Coffee Tickle
I’m just your typical guy from Manila..right now I don’t have any real work but I’m happy since I can do what I want to do. This is one of them - sharing what I love (one of them is coffee). I discovered coffee not that long ago so I can’t say that I’m not expert here but someday I hope I can be one. There’s so much good stuff when it comes to coffee, everyone agrees right? Very Good!

Coffee cufflinks? Yes. And: Coffee videos (my favorite), coffee drinking celebs, coffee cups, coffee recipes, coffee gadgets, and coffee stories.
Still I don’t view this site as a site about coffee. Sure, the focus is coffee. But by using coffee as a canvas, the site paints a much broader picture.
This is a site about culture. Similar to a music site, or a Hollywood celeb site, etc; it shines the spotlight on one main attraction. But in this way, we get a full spectrum view (of advertising, fashion, people, business, community, trends, and tradition… among other things).
I’m intrigued by the psychology of the site author. Is he obsessed? I think not! The content is varied (though it remains true to the topic). he isn’t selling a mindset and he isn’t selling a product. Rather, he’s tapped into the power-grid and he’s mainlining.
Apparently so superficial. Yet so deep! I get the feeling that the site has only just scratched the surface. My imagination goes wild: What about coffee history, coffee fashion, coffee comics, coffee jokes, coffee art, coffee in movies, coffee in music, coffee in different parts of the world?
I think some of that is here as well. I’m going to go back through this guy’s posts and see what else I’ve missed. I think you should too! Visiting this site makes me feel almost as good as my first cup of coffee in the morning. ![]()
Life of Justin
As you can see from the map, I managed to see a ton of stuff on this one trip. I made it back to Hollywood, up to San Francisco, and all the way to the Redwoods of California. From there, I made it to Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Death Valley. And last but not least, through Las Vegas on the way back to Phoenix…. I managed to take over a thousand pictures which I have not even begun looking through yet.
This guy should have his own travel show on TV. True, there are some odd posts thrown in, besides. And this may be a “plus”. Still, I go there for the travel stories. And, I’m guessing, you won’t find anyone online that travels more or takes more photos. Plus, the photos are very good. Well, this is his road trip.
Reviewing his blog we find out that he also:
- Graduated.
- Moved.
- Had several jobs.
- Went on many vacations.
- Got drunk.
And he is pondering the age old question: Is there more to life: Or, What to do… This, when he isn’t blogging about blogging or making lists. Well, who would guess he’s (also) an aspiring actor?
But like I said, I go here for the travel stories (and the photos). And, well, there are also videos (on how to make a hammock in a bathroom stall, for example).
So to sum it up (another quote):
At this point I do not even feel like I am living in reality. More like on a tour with some rock band in the 80s. Last night was another crazy night and it was only Wednesday! I do not know how I am going to make it through this week.
Will he make it? Stay tuned! I’m hoping he keeps this up for a while.
Retired and Restless
Plan a REALISTIC tomorrow. Make a list and check it twice. That means actually writing it down on that memo pad. Just put down the stuff on your “A” list that can’t be put off another day. Then make a “B” list, and if you have time tomorrow, you can do one of these. One. You can also make a “C” list. This is my favorite, because it is a list of sh*t you will never do.

Watching the Grass Grow
The first thing I like about this blog is the title. He really IS (retired and restless). That brings me to the second thing I like: He’s an older person who “gets” the Internet. So this blog is “real”.
This blog is about real life. It’s about “watching the grass grow”. It’s about family and hobbies. It’s not focused on a TOPIC but it’s “focused”: It’s not trendy. Rather, its homey and down to earth.
It’s quaint. But it is not sleepy. Or tired. Or trite. And, it’s not grouchy. Or resentful. Thank God, it’s not preachy (smile). And I like that it’s not overly sentimental. But, well, I don’t think it’s “restless” either.
There’s a tad of homespun wisdom. And there’s a touch of “life’s lessons learned”. But it’s not heavy. Neither is it simple. The author doesn’t look down or back.
So if, perhaps. he doesn’t look forward so much; still, he looks around himself. And such that he infrequently looks into himself; as such, he is frequently outside himself and beside himself.
Still, no real surprises here. But I like it that way, just fine. A fine blog. And worth checking in on. It’s restful and refreshing.
Questionable History
I started this blog at the end of July, not knowing if it would take off or be well received. History has always been one of my greatest loves. But beyond history, I’ve just always been a curious person, constantly trying to figure out the origin and answers to everything. So I decided to share my “brain hobbies,” and that is why I started this blog.

Only 15 entries. I’ve read them all. Will it be updated regularly? One never knows! But I like what I see, so far. And, I’m hoping to stay caught up … from the beginning to the “end” (though there seems no end to stories of this sort).
- Things we take for granted.
- Stories we’ve heard, true or false.
- Cultural knowledge…
- And “trivia” (I don’t like that word very much).
The stories are fun and factual. You can’t get this much detail from a Trivial Pursuit card. But does she write them herself or are they copy and paste? You’ll have to ask her.
She seems friendly enough. She’s said “thanks” to her visitors. Seems thankful FOR them. The site design is happy and whimsical, too! I enjoy visiting.
I’m always on the lookout for “concept” blogs. Ideas that make a blog unique. That thing about a blog that brings in visitors. Its usefulness. Timeliness….
- Ease of use…
- Comprehensibility…
- Fascination…
Does it work as a whole (yes)? How well do the posts tie in with each other (very well)? And is there “flow” from one post to the next (definitely)? It has personality! And the personality of the blog matches the personality of the blog owner quite nicely!!!
