tsunamis
Tsunami dreams –The state has been studying previous tsunamis in this area, and have been holding drills and community meetings to change previous understanding of what could be done to survive a rupture of the Cascadia fault. Previously, the expectations of a 8 to 9 + earthquake and tsunami were that they occur here every 500-700 years. This was gleaned from samples of soil and tree destruction. For some reason now, the concern is that they occur more often, maybe every 240 years, the last occuring in 1700, which would make the quake past-due. The latest report indicates that few people in the populated beach areas would find accessible routes to escape, so they are considering berms and towers to climb. In our section of the bay, the safe zones are now being reconsidered. Certain gathering areas that appear to be high enough above sea level are now suspected to be prone to collapse in the liquefaction that occurs in a strong quake. The bridges would fail. I don’t know how a person would leave the area, without bridges. There is access to high ground even if on foot. There's more time to escape. Perhaps there should be thought to supplies storage in gathering areas.
I don’t recall dreaming of water. I’ve been chased by bears and there is only one chance to escape, if I make the leap to a particular cavern. I have to make the leap, or I will not survive. In the dream, I keep practicing making the leap, and have been successful. The bear of course, wants to kill me, but it is beautiful, its fur glistens with light from the sun, golden and white. It reminds me of the monkeys in the road from a previous dream. They were also of the same sparkling colors. Are they dreams about the earth? It seems to me that the monkey dream is about the earth shifting.
Other folks in town that I know say they have dreamt directly about a tsunami here. One found the wave full of sharks that chased her as she tried to escape. Another went back to retrieve her pets. They had detachable heads, so she placed the heads in a dresser at home above where the water should hit, but when she returned, they had drowned.
I don’t know what the bears are for me. They could mean Medicine Wheel, yet for me I think they represent the power of nature to be respected.
