Monthly Assessment

I shouldn’t measure life in terms of what I don’t have.

♦ I can measure my wealth in terms of experience.
♦ I’ve tried to measure it in terms of beauty (desk top wallpapers and fine art on the computer).
♦ I’d like to measure it in terms of factoids… but I don’t enjoy studying that much any more and I don’t remember what I read.
♦ There’s health,
staying busy,
♦ seeing something new every day.
♦ And there’s ‘happiness‘ (if you’re not happy then BE happy… I can do that but it feels empty sometimes, too).
Given all this, I can only measure life in terms of how I perceive life.

True! I deal with all these issues. But…

♦ I apologize.
♦ I try really hard to do the right things by people.
♦ I turn negatives into positives.
♦ I remember the good and not the bad.
♦ I’m modest.
♦ I’m humble.
♦ I’m (not) poor.
♦ I’m (not) sorry.
♦ I’m generally comfortable.
♦ I’m willing to maintain peace.
♦ I’m sometimes inspired.
♦ I can occasionally assess my wealth of experience AS wealth…
♦ …though I seldom count such small gains as material riches.
♦ I’m able, at times, to see beauty…
♦ …or to think in terms of material success.
♦ I evaluate my days in PR as good days…
♦ …and I still like Old San Juan.

I like…

breezes in the evenings
architecture
crowds
♦ the ocean
♦ my computer
♦ the internet
facebook
current events
♦ PR history
♦ learning Spanish
walks in the evenings
♦ spending money wisely
♦ drinking alcohol responsibly
♦ seeing positive changes in my body
♦ moments of pleasure
thinking of people
♦ watching people
remembering people from my past
♦ good movies
new things
magazines
sketching
reggaeton
♦ being healthy
eating well
sleeping well
writing

I still say quick prayers before and after meals, before bed, and (at least) once during the day.
