What Customers Want

Dear Store Clerk,

  1. Don’t expect me to say “Hi” back when you greet me.
  2. Don’t ask me if you can help me find something.
  3. Don’t follow me around the store.
  4. Make sure all items display a price.
  5. Make sure you have in stock what you advertise.
  6. Be at the register when I get there.
  7. Don’t make me guess which register is open.
  8. Open a new register when there are lots of people in line.
  9. Don’t socialize or use the phone while I wait.
  10. Don’t chat with the person in front of me while I wait.
  11. Don’t flirt with the other employees while you check me out.
  12. Don’t ask me if I want “fries with that”.
  13. Ring my purchases at the correct price.
  14. Make sure I get the sale price if something is on sale.
  15. Don’t send another employee to check the price on something.
  16. Don’t ask for personal information or send me more junk mail.
  17. Learn how to make change without looking at the register.
  18. Have change for a 20 (and not in dollars and dimes).
  19. Give me the correct change.
  20. Correct your own errors without calling the manager.
  21. Be nice when I come back for a refund or exchange.
  22. And don’t ask me “Are you back again?” (ha ha).  Not funny!

Thanks,

A Customer
