Birthday Wishes
Dear Son,
Happy Birthday! When are you coming home? I wish you would call more. I worry so much. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you.
If you were here, I’d make your favorite cake. Pineapple upside down. And I’d fix whatever you want for your special birthday dinner? Maybe enchiladas? I know how much you like them!
I picked out a special gift. It isn’t much but I thought of you when I saw it. I’ll get it in the mail today. I promise! I’ve been so busy lately.
I remember the day you were born. You were such a beautiful baby. People used to stop us on the streets and comment on how beautiful you were. You never cried. Always a joy to be around! Never complained. Your father and I are so proud of the person you’ve become.
Your father and I keep meaning to go “antique” hunting. He likes all the collectables. And I always find something silly to bring home. We don’t have enough room to display all the little knick-knacks I pick up, anyway. I keep telling him we should go for a ride in the country, at least. Get out more… I used to like to dance. Your father didn’t. He never took me dancing!
Memo and Papa said to say “Hi”! They miss you too. And your brother…. Oh, and I talked to Uncle Floyd and Uncle Carl. They asked how you were doing. We’re all here, in heaven, looking down on you. Smiling. Don’t forget us! We all love you very much!
Take Care! Love,
Mom
