On Creativity
Dear Site Visitor,
First, thanks for visiting AND thanks for asking me such wonderful questions! I hope the answers will be equally revealing. But first, a little something about myself. You may find me referred to by many names in this blog: Webmaster is only the first of many. For, I am everyone and no one. Surely, sometimes I am not myself. For, in fact, I am like anyone else. Online, I can be whoever I want (I could even be you)! That being said: You have addressed me as Webmaster. And so, Webmaster I am!
Specifically, you’ve asked me about my creative side. But, honestly, I don’t create because I’m creative. At first, I created because I was lost: The internet was a new frontier. Later, I “found myself” in technology but I lost my old self in the process. Then, I poured everything I had — blindly — into creating online. And so, I found myself again in the process.
I created poetry sites and re-discovered poetry. Then, I created rap sites and hated “old-fashioned” rhymes (Yes I sent a demo CD to Eminem. He returned it unopened). I created discussion sites: Gained and lost many friends. I posted to newsgroups and bulletin boards, became bored, and learned to hate conflict and controversy.
Mostly I climb the mountain because “it is there”. Young people, I think, are born with an understanding of computers and the internet (they don’t know anything else). As I grow older, I have a hard time recapturing my youth. I feel like I will die if I get behind: I feel like progress will build a super-highway over my grave.
Eagerly Awaiting your Comments!
Webmaster
ps. Yes, this is a new blog. But I hope you will grow with me. Watch my progress. Check back in on me. I think we can “walk this road” together! It should be an exciting and eventful journey.
