war of my world

I thought my dream from last night was funny. It was the combination of so many different scenes from the day and the week along with fears and work stress and school. How many things can you fit in a dream? I really only remember part of it.

The scene appeared to be at a lodge in the mountains. In the dream, I was in my old car from Texas, a little black Mr2. It had been snowing, and I drove headlong into a snowbank. The upper part collapsed on top of my car, and I was buried. Amazingly, the car suddenly was a convertible, so all I had to do was dig my way up out of the snow. I wasn't cold, and I wasn't exactly human either. It wasn't clear whether I was a living creature, but was definitely an alien. I could see myself as if standing apart. My clothes were fabulous, wonderfully patterned in alternating negative and positive, layered sundress in black and white. My skin was silvery gray. The effect was like that of an anime character, with dark hair and large eyes. The eyes weren't right, though...they were two large liquid mirror pools, reflecting everything around. Although the rest of the world had hues (although minimal in the winter) my appearance was black and white with the exception of some buttons on the dress, which were bright red. The lodge was lit in the distance, and I pondered the problem we were to solve. In my mind it would all be resolved by fair value, no matter how overwhelming the troubles seemed, the fair value exceeded all past costs.

I awoke and thought about the dream. I had been watching the end of War of the Worlds and in my dreams turned into an alien. The news this week had been about an avalanche that buried some cars on the highway. I really like "Project Runway" and that outfit could have won. I'm buried in work and schoolwork and had stayed up until two working on business combinations.

Besides the imagery of the movies, the dream layered into feelings. The eyes of a space alien are protective, because no one can really see you, they will only see themselves, however great or horrible the image is. The red buttons were a warning to myself not to let people push my buttons. I had just mentioned that earlier in the day...people pushing my buttons. I'm buried by my duties and studies, a regular avalanche.

Well, I thought it was hilarious, and will always remember the images.

There was poetry in the image. When I have time, I will write a poem for the anime alien.

So then I got up and wandered downstairs. The electricity is messed up and not working through every part of the house. I can see something dark out of the corner of my eye but can't figure it out. The phone starts ringing but the power is out, so it just gives out a reedy rattle over and over, and a roll of paper dropped into the toilet in the dark...so it was beginning to overflow, and there was this thing I kept catching out of the corner of my eye. I quickly fixed the toilet. The phone is still rattling. I whirl around a few times trying to see whatever the dark spot is that I'm seeing. So finally I reach up to my glasses and there's a really large round metal cap to a bolt balancing on the rim.

So I've been running and jumping around for 15 minutes with this thing balanced on the edge of my glasses. (I think it is the cap to a ceiling light fixture) I figured that was impossible and that I was actually still asleep and freakin' dreamin.

After some investigation, I found that my glasses have fairly strong magnets at the rim edges. (I'm amazed I'm not wandering around work sucking up paper clips...in fact next time I need to make a copy, I'll know where to store the clips.)

I wonder if those magnets affect my brain.
